Anderson .Paak – Malibu

Malibu is jazzy, but not in the acid jazz way that was Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly. The rhythms are plush and effective; the songwriting genuine and spirited. Anderson .Paak with Malibu most definitely has arrived and may just be preparing for a very successful 2016.
Malibu is Paak’s second studio album. The name follows in accordance with his debut album Venice. For as good as the melodies and ripe drums and bass beats are on the album, more impressive is the songwriting. Anderson has writing credits on every single song on the album. The production on the album is quality coming from the likes of 9th Wonder, DJ Khalil, Kaytranada, Dem Joints to name a few. Also featuring is Madlib on of the stand out tracks “The Waters”.
Some guest features ScHoolboy Q on “Am I Wrong,” and als BJ the Chicago Kid, The Game and Talib Kweli.
